Do you love your garden? Do your friends tell you how lovely it is? Or how unique it is? It’s very likely other people will want to visit your garden too. You can support Princess Alice Hospice by opening your own much loved garden.

Opening your garden to the public may seem daunting at first, but you’re not only giving people a great day out – you’re also raising money to help us deliver our compassionate care. What’s more you’ll be joining a community of other like-minded garden owners and volunteers, all passionate about great gardens and great cake!

So whether your garden is big or small, crazy or calm,  if you think it has quality, character and interest, we’d love to hear from you and arrange a visit so you can apply to be part of the scheme.

• Why would I open my garden? – There are many reasons that people open their gardens. To show off their hard work, to inspire or educate others, to share their passion for gardening and often for fundraising. People enjoy the experience so much that they continue to open their garden each year.
• What dates would I have to offer? – Dates are not confirmed but there will be a variety of dates from March-September, though we will aim to group gardens in areas at the same time so our supporters can hop from one to another.
• My garden is tiny – No need to worry, great things come in small packages!
• I have a pond/pool – We will advise any visitors of the risks and precautions they must take.

The session is open to anyone who is looking after a loved one who has a long term condition or is approaching the end of life.

It’s an informal chance to meet others and have a chat about what it is like to care for someone.

You’ll also find out more about the support available to family members/carers at Princess Alice Hospice.

Are you thinking about volunteering, but can’t decide which role is best for you?

Do you like meeting people? Are you a good listener? Maybe you’re a fantastic organiser or someone who loves to get stuck into admin? We’ve got volunteering opportunities for everyone. Do you have time to spare? Then you could volunteer with us. Whether you can volunteer for a couple of days each week, month or year we have a role to suit you. We need people with a wide variety of skills and experience and embrace diversity, offering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all our volunteers.

We run ‘Introduction to Volunteering’ sessions regularly throughout the year. Each session lasts about 1 hour and includes a short presentation about who we are, as well as an overview of currently available volunteering roles. After the presentation, you will have the chance to speak with our Volunteer Team, ask any questions you may have, and discuss which volunteering role is best suited for you.

…standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 or even 15,000 feet – the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below.

Imagine being able to do the highest skydive in the UK, whilst harnessed to a professional freefall parachute instructor and at the same time being able to help Princess Alice Hospice! Stop imagining; it’s real and it’s happening throughout next year and you can be part of it.

Why not jump on a special day, a big birthday or in memory of a loved one? For some inspiration, watch this video of our brave supporter Tony skydiving for the Hospice on his 80th birthday.

The maximum weight for a tandem skydive is 18 stone fully-clothed and there are no upper age limits but if you are aged 16 or 17 you must be accompanied by an adult.

🎄The one last gift your Christmas tree could give

This January, don’t drag your tree to the tip: let the Princess Alice Hospice Elves collect it directly from your doorstep to be recycled! Every tree collected and recycled is turned into compassionate, expert end-of-life care and bereavement support for local families, wherever and whenever they need it. You may ask yourself “How?”. Well, the process is simple:

1. Register your interest now by clicking on the button on the left 👈 (on desktop) or below 👇 (on mobile) to make sure you’re on the Elves’ list

2. When bookings open in October, we’ll send you a link to confirm your collection and leave a donation to the Hospice (you can Gift Aid it too!)

3. Between 8-11 January, our volunteer Elves fleet collects your tree right from your doorstep and takes it to be recycled.

100% of the proceeds go directly to Princess Alice Hospice 🕊️ In January 2026, Princess Alice Hospice collected more than 1,300 Christmas trees and was able to raise over £28,265 to support our patients and families. With your help, we can raise even more in 2027!

Join our 2027 Camino de Santiago Trek for Princess Alice Hospice in conjunction with St Raphael’s Hospice on a journey that has inspired pilgrims for over a thousand years.

This bespoke 5-day journey will follow 117 KM along the eighth and final stage of the iconic French Way, the most renowned of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. Walking through the rolling hills of Galicia, participants will experience breath-taking scenery while discovering a rich tapestry of cultural and historical landmarks along the route.

Light the Night is an evening walk through London, taking place on 2 October, which brings several London hospices together in a powerful act of collaboration.
