Try January Challenge - 1 January 2022

Try something new, challenge yourself or even give something up! | View on map

Set a personal challenge that will benefit us whilst also benefitting you, whether it’s trying one of our challenges, giving something up, or trying harder when it comes to a goal you’ve set.

For example, you could choose to give up alcohol, walk 11,000 steps a day, try to shed some of the Christmas and lockdown lbs, or even try a skydive! Whatever you choose to do, you will be helping us care for our patients and their families during this difficult time.

Ask your friends and family to sponsor you £1 a day or £1 for every lb, for your Try January challenge! Any amount, however little or large, will help us to provide our free-of-charge care to our patients and their families.

If you have any questions, do contact our Supporter Care Team on or 01372 461 808

Tag us on social media so we can see your amazing Try January efforts – @PAHospice

And do use our hashtag too – #TryJanuaryForPAH

Good luck and we look forward to seeing your Try January choices!

…standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 or even 15,000 feet – the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below.

Imagine being able to do the highest Skydive in the UK, whilst harnessed to a professional freefall parachute instructor and at the same time being able to help Princess Alice Hospice! Stop imagining; it’s real and it’s happening throughout this year and you can be part of it.

Why not jump on a special day, a big Birthday or in memory of a loved one? We have dates available throughout the year. For some inspiration, watch this video of our brave supporter Tony Skydiving for the Hospice on his 80th birthday.

The maximum weight for a tandem skydive is 18 stone fully clothed and there are no upper age limits but if you are aged 16 or 17 you must be accompanied by an adult.

Important: please download and read our enquiry pack before you sign up to ensure you meet all the requirements.

PJ Day – from 11 March onwards - 11 March 2022

Fundraising fun in your pyjamas! | View on map

5 people in PJs | 01372 461808

Take part from anywhere that suits you and on any day this spring!

Make a minimum donation of £2 (per participant) or why not get family and friends to sponsor you.

Support us in March 2022 by holding your own PJ Day; whether you’re learning at home, at school, working remotely or in the office.

Our aim is to raise awareness of The Princess Alice Hospice at Home service and the care that our nurses provide for patients in their own homes, 365 days of the year. Our nurses and doctors have adapted to ensure that care has continued throughout the pandemic; sometimes via phone or video call but still with many home visits. All you do is wear your pyjamas while doing your job, hobby or sport on any one day – and pay a suggested minimum donation of £2 or ask family and friends to sponsor you.

Organise a PJ Day this spring (the official Princess Alice Hospice PJ Day is on 11 March, but you can choose any day and time that suits you) and help raise money and awareness of the work our nurses do so they can continue to care for more people with life limiting illnesses.

You can either make a donation or set up a JustGiving fundraising page via our JustGiving campaign page here. Please ensure you follow the latest government guidelines if participating with friends, family and/or colleagues to help ensure you are taking precautions to protect yourself and others.

Here are just a few fun activities and ideas you can do whilst wearing your PJs;

  • Class quiz or team quiz
  • Lunch
  • Tea party
  • Sponsored walk
  • Complete a challenge (steps, walk, run etc.)

Download our PJ Day fundraising pack below which is full of great tips and ideas to help you plan for your day. If you are interested in holding your own PJ Day get in touch with our events team ( as we would love to hear all about it and discuss how we can support you.

London Landmarks Half Marathon - 3 April 2022

Map of route

01372 461808

The London Landmarks Half Marathon is a closed road, central London run and is the only half marathon to go through both the City of London and City of Westminster.

The event is not your average half marathon! From cultural landmarks and heritage to the city’s quirky and hidden secrets, runners get to explore the capital on a route like no other!

The race starts by The Strand, finishes by Downing Street and has fabulous views of London’s most iconic landmarks including Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, Nelson’s Column, the Gherkin, the Shard, the Tower of London and the London Eye.

The event is proud to deliver a pan-London community engagement programme and involves London wide schools, boroughs, community groups, cultural organisations, sports clubs and businesses in both event development and on the day.

We have some charity places available, all you have to do is click our online form below to apply.

Talk and walk to show your support…

It’s a stereotype but it’s true – research shows that men often find it harder or have fewer opportunities to talk about life and death, share emotions, fears or anxieties and seek help when they need it.

Princess Alice Hospice works hard to support all members of the family and has developed a number of initiatives aimed at men in particular, including our Man Shed, cookery courses and Dads’ groups.

Put your best foot forward and join us for a 10-mile charity walk in April 2022. Talk the Walk with friends, colleagues, your dad, uncle, brother or other family members (topics of conversation are entirely up to you) and shoulder to shoulder we’ll raise funds to ensure that our compassionate care can continue to reach more of those who need it, including men of all ages – whether they are ill, bereaved, or caring for a loved one.

The route starts and finishes at Esher Rugby Club in Hersham and passes through the Hospice and onto Cobham Rugby Club before returning to Esher Rugby Club in time for the Esher v Bury St Edmunds match that afternoon.

Your entry includes;

  • Rugby Match Day Ticket (Esher v Bury St Edmunds, match will take place after the walk)
  • Soft drink for under 18s or beer for entrants aged 18+
  • Burger (vegan, vegetarian and other dietary options available)
  • A Talk the Walk t-shirt
  • Medal
