Christmas Tree Collection 2027
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Christmas Tree Collection work?
It’s simple! You register your tree online, choose to leave a donation to support Princess Alice Hospice, and our cheerful Hospice Elves will come directly to your doorstep between 8 and 11 January 2027 to collect and recycle your tree.
Which postcodes are the Hospice Elves visiting this year?
Our Hospice Elves are collecting trees across selected KT postcodes:
KT1, KT2, KT3, KT4, KT5, KT6, KT7, KT8, KT9, KT10, KT11, KT12, KT13, KT15, KT17, KT18, KT19, KT21, KT22, KT23, and KT24.
What time will you collect my tree?
Due to the large number of trees being collected, we are unable to give an exact collection time. Please leave your tree clearly visible outside your property by 7:00 AM on Friday, 8 January 2027, and our Hospice Elves will collect it between 8 and 11 January 2027.
When do bookings open and close?
You can register your interest now and we’ll contact you as soon as our booking system opens in autumn. Bookings close at midnight on 4 January 2027, or sooner if our Hospice Elves reach the maximum capacity of 1,400 trees. We recommend booking early to avoid missing out, and the first 100 bookings will receive a special Christmas tree bauble made by our Shed volunteers.
How do I make my donation?
Once you;ve registered your interest, we’ll send you a link when bookings open; you will then be able to book your collection and make a donation to the Hospice. If you would prefer to pay over the phone, or send us a cheque, please contact our Customer Experience team at Customerexperie[email protected] to arrange payment.
How does my donation help the charity?
Every donation helps Princess Alice Hospice provide expert, compassionate end-of-life care and bereavement support for patients and their loved ones across our local community. All proceeds from the Christmas Tree Collection go directly to the Hospice.
Is Gift Aid available on my donation?
Yes, all donations can be Gift Aided. If you’re eligible, simply tick the Gift Aid box and we’ll be able to claim an extra 25% on your donation at no extra cost to you, helping your gift go even further.
Does the hospice receive money from recycling my tree?
No. We do not receive any income from the recycling of your tree. The success of the Christmas Tree Collection relies entirely on the generous donations made by supporters booking a collection. Thank you for helping us make a difference.
How should I prepare my tree for collection?
To help our Hospice Elves stay on schedule, please:
- Remove all decorations such as tinsel, lights, baubles, and the tree stand.
- We can only collect real, natural trees (no artificial trees, potted roots, or wreaths).
- If you are unable to leave your tree outside your property, please let us know on your registration form. Our standard Terms & Conditions state that our volunteers are unable to enter private property. However, where exceptional circumstances apply and these are noted in advance, we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Do I need to be at home when the Hospice Elves arrive?
Not at all! As long as your tree is clearly visible and accessible by 7:00 AM on 8 January, our Hospice Elves will collect it without disturbing your day.
What happens if weather or other circumstances prevent my tree from being collected?
We will make every effort to collect all registered trees, including arranging alternative collection dates if weather or other circumstances make collection unsafe or impractical. If, despite our best efforts, we are unable to collect your tree by 31 January, we will offer a full refund upon request. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to ensure every tree is collected.
What happens if my tree is very large?
If your tree is over 6ft tall, please try to cut it into smaller, manageable sections before collection so our Hospice Elves can lift and transport it safely.
Is there a fee for collection?
This is a suggested donation rather than a collection fee. While local councils may collect trees for free, your donation to our Christmas Tree Collection helps fund vital end-of-life care and bereavement support for local families.
What if I no longer need my tree collected after I have booked?
If you no longer require your tree to be collected, please let us know as soon as possible. This helps our Hospice Elves plan their routes efficiently and make the best use of their time, ensuring we can collect as many trees as possible.
What actually happens to my tree after it’s collected?
Your tree has one last eco-friendly gift to give! Once collected by our Hospice Elves, all trees are recycled with the assistance of Suez.
How can I become a Hospice Elf and help collect trees?
We would love to have you on the Tree Elf Fleet! We need volunteer drivers, van owners, co-pilots, and tree-lifters for 8–11 January 2027. It’s a fantastic, active community effort. If you’re interested, please email [email protected].
Can my company sponsor or volunteer as a team?
Absolutely! Corporate volunteering is a fantastic team-building activity to kick off the New Year. We can provide brand-visibility opportunities, group route allocations, and all the logistics you need for a rewarding team day out.
Who can I contact if I have a question that hasn’t been answered?
Please email [email protected], and the Customer Experience team will direct you to the right person.
