KINGSTON COLLEGE VISIT1We were really pleased to welcome nine Health and Social Care students from Kingston College to the Hospice recently.  The visit came about because of the strong links we’ve created with the College recently, which saw us collaborating with students on a fashion project earlier this year. This time, a small group of students came to the Hospice to find out more about our work and what we do.

Four students joined colleagues in our Wellbeing Centre and had a brilliant morning interacting with staff and patients. Sarah Dowd, our Head of Inclusion, hosted a session on loss and remembrance with the remaining students before they joined the Ward Round on our In-Patient Unit and were given a tour of the Hospice by Martin, our Assistant Practitioner. KINGSTON COLLEGE VISIT1

At the end of the visit we reflected on what the students had learnt and what their impressions of hospices were. For most students, Princess Alice Hospice was quite different to how they imagined it would be, far more friendly and welcoming and less like a hospital.

We hope their visit may have inspired these young people to consider a career in palliative and end of life care in the future.

Huge thank you to Sarah, The Wellbeing Team, Martin and the IPU Team for supporting the students!
