We welcomed the publication of the 10 Year Health Plan for England by the Government on 3 July 2025, which sets out a vision for a neighbourhood health service.

The idea of Princess Alice Hospice was first born in 1980 . It came from our community in response to a need that was tangible and urgent – for local people to receive care and support at the end of their lives. And so, as a community response charity, we remain firmly embedded in the heart of our local community, providing high quality care that’s rooted in the needs of the people we serve.

Nigel Seymour, our Chief Executive, had this to say about the plan: “We’re excited by the possibilities and ambitions of the plan and are perfectly placed to respond quickly to move more care out of hospitals and closer to home.

But with 80% of our services funded by charitable donations, we need a commitment from the Government to a longer-term, sustainable funding model for all hospices.

Within the communities we serve in the London Boroughs of Kingston, Richmond and across Surrey, I look forward to working alongside and collaborating with our neighbourhood partners to improve people’s access and experience of end of life care.”
