By joining our Santa Fun Run, you will be helping us provide care to patients and their families who need us this Christmas.

Location details - Bushy Park

Bushy Park is one of London’s eight Royal Parks and covers an area of 1,099 acres, the second largest of the capital’s eight Royal Parks. But don’t worry – you will only be running, jogging or walking 5km of this beautiful park. Bushy Park is famed for its mix of waterways, gardens and grassland, and roaming herds of red and fallow deer. The bronze Diana fountain at the end of the mile-long Chestnut Avenue was designed by Sir Christopher Wren. Visit the Upper Lodge Water Gardens, Woodland Gardens and try to spot birdlife including woodpeckers, kingfishers and kestrels.

The meeting point at Bushy Park is next to the Diana (Arethusa) Fountain car park, nearest to the Hampton Court Gate. Look out for the pink gazebos. If driving please note the Diana Fountain car park can only be accessed from the Hampton Court end. If you arrive from the Teddington gate you will need to park in the Pheasantry car park and walk to the Diana Fountain car park. We will then all walk over to the start point together.

Coming by car

For Bushy Park the nearest car park is the Diana (Arethusa) Fountain car park, nearest to the Hampton Court Gate. It is a public car park, so is likely to be very busy on the day. There are other car parks within Bushy Park – please visit for more information and maps. However, if you are able to car share or take public transport, please do so.

By train

For Bushy Park from Waterloo to Teddington/Hampton Wick/Hampton Court – 5 to 10-minute walk, entering the park through the Sandy Lane Gates.

By bus

Location details - Sandown Park Racecourse

Impressive racecourse with fantastic views over the sights of London form the Wembley arch to the Shard and Canary Wharf. Join us for our very first ever Santa Fun Run at Sandown Park Racecourse! Jog, walk or skip your way around this iconic venue and get the opportunity to see behind the scenes at a usually exclusive and historic racecourse… you may may even get a sneak peak at the stables en route…

Coming by car

You will be guided to park in the Sandown Park Racecourse car park where there will be ample space. Please proceed to the main entrance where you will be welcomed and can register ahead of the Santa Fun Run. 

By train

You’ll need to head to Esher and then take a short walk to the racecourse.

Remember to check for any train delays or strikes.

By bus

Check for your bus 


Please arrive at 9:30am for both events for a 10.00am start,  giving you plenty of time to register at one of our desks and collect your Santa suits, if requested.

We will call you over for a warm up with a loud hailer just before the run begins. Once the warm up is complete, please assemble near the start line, any runners should start at the front, followed by joggers in the middle and then strollers at the back.


When you registered for our Santa Fun Run online, you will have chosen whether to wear one of our Santa suits or to dress in your own festive fancy dress.

If you’ve chosen our Santa suit, we will provide it on the day. To protect your modesty – as well as protect yourself from the cold – please wear suitable running clothes under your Santa suit! Remember to wear suitable footwear too.

If you’ve chosen your own festive fancy dress, do remember to wear suitable footwear and arrive in your chosen outfit ready to run/jog/walk.

Please note that, unfortunately, there are no lockers/storage facilities available to leave things at the start, so please do not bring any valuables with you on the day.

Running in memory of a loved one

Many people choose to support Princess Alice Hospice in memory of someone they love and in recognition of the high-quality compassionate care we provide.

By taking part in our Santa Fun Run in memory of a loved one, you’ll be commemorating their life and supporting your local hospice, to help other families in need of our specialist care and support.

On the day of the event, we’ll provide in memory bibs that you can add to your Santa suit, to remember that special person whilst taking part.

The toilets are next to the playground by Hampton Court Gate (no charge).

Sandown Park Racecourse 

The toilets are on-site, in the main entrance of the building.


To reduce our plastic waste we will not be providing any bottled water at either event. Please bring your own named water bottles so that you can stay hydrated before and after your run.

Bushy Park

The refreshment point is located at the Diana Car Park. It opens from 8.30am (opening times can vary depending on weather conditions) serving bacon rolls, sandwiches, hot dogs, tea and coffee, homemade cakes, and a range of hot and cold snacks and beverages.

Sandown Park Racecourse 

We will have tea stalls selling mince pies, hot drinks, cakes and mulled wine among other festive favourite snacks.

  • Respect other park users when participating.
  • Take home any rubbish or suits.
  • Stay away from water and be aware of symptoms of weil’s disease.

Weil’s disease is a serious disease that is transmitted to humans by contact with urine from infected rats. If participants have any flu-like symptoms, go to your doctor and tell them you have been near water

  • Cover all cuts and broken skin with waterproof plasters before and during the Santa Fun Run
  • Stay away from water
  • Wash your hands and forearms after handling any animal, contaminated clothing or other materials, and before eating, drinking or smoking.
