Looking for really rewarding work experience? We have a range of opportunities from half day shadowing sessions to summer programmes to formal courses. All will help you learn new skills and discover strengths you never knew you had.

Work experience opportunities

You'll have an unforgettable work experience at Princess Alice Hospice. You'll see at first hand the amazing work we do and get the chance to do something really meaningful. We have a great variety of opportunities, including helping out with activities in the day hospice, tackling admin in the office, working on the till in our shops and many more.

15 and 16 year olds

We’re happy to welcome work experience placements for one to two weeks, if they are arranged through the school. If you’re interested in a work experience placement, we’ll need appropriate paperwork from your school. We’ll also need to do the relevant risk assessments – so do allow time for that. We’re happy to offer opportunities in our retail section and also in our offices – although places are limited.

Sixth form students

Over the summer holidays, we take a small number of sixth formers in our day hospice, where patients come to enjoy activities and socialise. You’ll be supported by a volunteer mentor, who will help you complete your workbook. In addition, you will be able to use our online learning to support your development. You’ll work alongside staff and volunteers and will have a unique opportunity to organise and run an activity with day hospice patients. To find out more information click here.

Student shadowing opportunities

If you’re interested in learning more about hospice care, we are able to organise a limited number of half day shadowing opportunities where you will be able to see at first hand the care and support we provide at Princess Alice Hospice.

Formal placements

We also work with a number of partner organisations to offer more formal placements. To find out more about these opportunities please look under our Learn with Us section or contact our Education department.
