Our volunteers are a vital and integral part of the work we do at Princess Alice Hospice. Like you, they’re people who want to make an impact on a local level, in their community. By joining us you’ll discover new friends, new skills and be able to share your passion and experience to support local people living with life limiting illness, and their families too.

In the Hospice, in our shops, at community events, in community settings and in people’s homes, our volunteers provide incredible support, expertise, time and compassion. Quite simply, we couldn’t provide our outstanding care without you. We are positive, passionate, and professional; we share a commitment to top tier care done right and a shared sense of pride that it gives to each and every one of us. Whether it’s 1 or 4 hours a month or 4 hours a week or year, we can help you find a role that works for you.

Every year we pause to thank our volunteers for the amazing work that they do and to celebrate and remember all the wonderful ways that they support our vital work.

What could I do?

Do you like meeting people? Are you a good listener? Maybe you’re a fantastic organiser or someone who loves to get stuck into admin? We’ve got volunteering opportunities for everyone. Whether you can give a couple of hours a week, several days a month or a day a year, your time will make all the difference. Here are just a few ways you can help.

Volunteer in our shops

A really enjoyable way to meet people, you could learn a new skill and raise vital cash for us.

Volunteer in the community

Supporting a patient or carer in you local area with emotional and practical support.

Volunteer at the Hospice

Working with patients on our In-patient Unit or helping out with admin in the office, you’ll be giving us vital extra support.

Volunteer at events

If you can cheer loudly, hold a bucket or hand out leaflets, you can join in the fun and help raise much-needed funds.

Become a Committee Member or Trustee

Play an essential role in the success of our charity, using your skills and experience to help set our strategic direction and ensuring the good governance of the organisation.

Become a Hospice ambassador

You can be our voice in the community, speaking about our work and encouraging people to support us.

Who can be a volunteer?

Do you have time to spare? Then you could volunteer with us. Our volunteers range in age from 16 to 90+ and come from a wide range of backgrounds and communities. Some have retired from successful careers. Some are still at work or school. Whether you can volunteer for a couple of days each week, month or year we have a role to suit you. We need people with a wide variety of skills and experience and embrace diversity, offering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all our volunteers.
