Volunteers are a hugely important part of our team. Their skills and their time enable us to give patients and families the outstanding care and support they deserve. If you have some time on your hands and want to do something really rewarding, volunteering could be for you.
Want to volunteer?
Volunteering is good for you – and for us
Our staff, our patients and our community all benefit from the support of our fantastic volunteers. But what do you get out of it? Firstly, all our volunteers find the experience extremely rewarding. They meet some amazing people and get a real buzz knowing they’re making a big difference. But there are lots of other reasons too.
- You’ll learn new skills which could help you in your role and in everyday life.
- We’ll give you full training and support in your role.
- You’ll be a much valued part of our team – and have a say in how we’re run.
- You’ll hear about career opportunities within Princess Alice Hospice.
- You’ll have fun and make new friends!
- You’ll gain practical work experience, to help land your first job or a place at university.
Volunteers’ Week runs from 1-7 June every year
We’ve had to pause the amazing work of our volunteers due to the current situation, which means we are unable to thank them in person at the moment. However, we’re taking this opportunity to celebrate and remember all the wonderful ways that they support our vital work: at the Hospice itself, as Trustees, committee members or hospice ambassadors, volunteering in our shops, and supporting our events in the community.
So, to all of our brilliant volunteers who lend their time, compassion, skills, expertise and care – THANK YOU.
What could I do?
Volunteer in our shops
A really enjoyable way to meet people, you could learn a new skill and raise vital cash for us.
Volunteer in the community
Supporting a patient or carer in you local area with emotional and practical support.
Volunteer at the hospice
Working with patients on our In-patient Unit or helping out with admin in the office, you’ll be giving us vital extra support.
Volunteer at events
If you can cheer loudly, hold a bucket or hand out leaflets, you can join in the fun and help raise much-needed funds.
Become a Committee Member or Trustee
Play an essential role in the success of our charity, using your skills and experience to help set our strategic direction and ensuring the good governance of the organisation.
