Or if you want to perhaps have an elf fancy dress day and make a donation to the Hospice?

At Princess Alice Hospice we have created a safe place for children to get the support they need in what can be the most difficult of times. We have a Dovetail Group, a big playroom with an abundance of toys and also our social workers that help the children talk about their loved one.

So we can continue this work, we need people just like you to join in our fundraising events. If Elf Run sounds like the event for you let us know how you will be taking part by contacting events@pah.org.uk and one of the team will be in touch with some more information and to send over a pair of antlers or elf ears for everyone who is taking part!

December Virtual Death Cafe - 6 December 2021

T: 01372 461958
E: cc@pah.org.uk

A chat about death over coffee and cake might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it could get people talking about a subject that is still taboo for many. In our Death Cafés we aim to empower communities with the knowledge, skills and confidence to engage with death, dying and loss.

Here’s what one attendee, Sue, had to say about her experience:
“Death is part of life and affects us all, yet it largely remains a taboo subject. Attending the death cafe has given me the chance to discuss and learn from others and consider how I feel about my own wishes for the end of my life and to express those to my family. It is a positive, interesting experience and feels very safe to chat about death which you can’t do anywhere else”.

Register now and book in your collection.

In return for collecting and recycling your tree please do consider making a donation (you can do this on the collection booking form).

What your generous donation could help pay for…

  • £17 could pay for a Dovetail session for one child following the death of a parent.
  • £28 could cover two hours of support from a physiotherapist.
  • £36 could cover the cost of an hour’s care for a patient in our In-Patient Unit this Christmas.
  • £81 could enable a Princess Alice Nurse to visit a patient at home over the festive season.
  • £215 could pay for a year’s worth of monthly Dovetail sessions for one bereaved child.
  • £432 could pay for 12 hours of compassionate care for one patient on our In-Patient Unit this Christmas.

Registration now open – book your collection

Before you know it, you will be choosing a Christmas tree, bringing it home and decorating it to mark the start of the festive period. When thinking about picking your tree, you should also think about what you’re actually going to do with it once Christmas is over.

That’s where we come in! Our Christmas tree collection is a fantastic way to discard of your tree. Here’s why we think you should consider recycling your tree this year;

  • It saves you the hassle
  • It’s good for the planet
  • And most importantly it will help us provide care to local people
  • Also councils are struggling to collect garden waste and will likely not be collecting your Christmas tree either this year, so this is a great way to recycle your tree whilst supporting a good cause

We will be collecting from the following postcodes during the 8 to 9 January 2022:

KT10 Esher/Claygate
KT11 Cobham
KT12 Walton on Thames
KT13 Weybridge
KT8 Molesey

Thank you for supporting our patients and their families.

PJ Day - 11 February 2022

Fundraising fun in your pyjamas! | View on map

5 people in PJs

events@pah.org.uk | 01372 461808

Take part from anywhere that suits you and on any day in February!

Make a minimum donation of £2 (per participant) or why not get family and friends to sponsor you.

Support us in February 2022 by holding your own PJ Day; whether you’re learning at home, at school, working remotely or in the office.

Our aim is to raise awareness of The Princess Alice Hospice at Home service and the care that our nurses provide for patients in their own homes, 365 days of the year. Our nurses and doctors have adapted to ensure that care has continued throughout the pandemic; sometimes via phone or video call but still with many home visits. All you do is wear your pyjamas while doing your job, hobby or sport on any one day – and pay a suggested minimum donation of £2 or ask family and friends to sponsor you.

Organise a PJ Day in February (the official Princess Alice Hospice PJ Day is on 11 February, but you can choose any day and time that suits you) and help raise money and awareness of the work our nurses do so they can continue to care for more people with life limiting illnesses.

You can either make a donation or set up a JustGiving fundraising page via our JustGiving campaign page here. Please ensure you follow the latest government guidelines if participating with friends, family and/or colleagues.

Here are just a few fun activities and ideas you can do whilst wearing your PJs;

  • Zoom class quiz or team quiz
  • Virtual lunch
  • Virtual tea party
  • Sponsored walk (in your support bubble)
  • Complete a challenge (steps, walk, run etc.)

Download our PJ Day fundraising pack below which is full of great tips and ideas to help you plan for your day. If you are interested in holding your own PJ Day in February get in touch with our events team (events@pah.org.uk) as we would love to hear all about it and how we can support you.

…standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 or even 15,000 feet – the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below.

Imagine being able to do the highest Skydive in the UK, whilst harnessed to a professional freefall parachute instructor and at the same time being able to help Princess Alice Hospice! Stop imagining; it’s real and it’s happening throughout this year and you can be part of it.

Why not jump on a special day, a big Birthday or in memory of a loved one? We have dates available throughout the year. For some inspiration, watch this video of our brave supporter Tony Skydiving for the Hospice on his 80th birthday.

9 April 2022

The route starts and finishes at Esher Rugby Club

Registration will open soon – please check back here for further updates.

Talk and walk to show your support…

It’s a stereotype but it’s true – research shows that men often find it harder or have fewer opportunities to talk about life and death, share emotions, fears or anxieties and seek help when they need it.

Princess Alice Hospice works hard to support all members of the family and has developed a number of initiatives aimed at men in particular, including our Man Shed, cookery courses and Dads’ groups.

Put your best foot forward and join us for a sponsored 10 mile walk in April 2022. Talk the Walk with friends, colleagues, your dad, uncle, brother or other family members (topics of conversation are entirely up to you) and shoulder to shoulder we’ll raise funds to ensure that our compassionate care can continue to reach more of those who need it, including men of all ages – whether they are ill, bereaved, or caring for a loved one.

The route starts and finishes at Esher Rugby Club in Hersham and passes through the Hospice onto Cobham Rugby Club, Reeds Rugby Club before returning to Esher Rugby Club in time for the Esher v Barnes match that afternoon. Your entry includes a T-shirt, a pint and a burger as well as your medal and match ticket.
