Portrait picture of Sonia and Ella smiling at the cameraFor the past two weeks we’ve had Ella working in the Marketing and Communications team on work experience while at Bournemouth University.

Ella has kindly written about her experience at the Hospice and how it will support her as she works towards her degree in Business Studies.

This Easter I spent two weeks at Princess Alice Hospice as a Marketing and Events assistant gaining beneficial work experience.

I am currently in my final year at Bournemouth University studying towards my Business Studies degree, and was looking to gain some work experience in the marketing field before entering the world of work!

My role at the Hospice was extremely rewarding, I gained exposure to all elements of the Hospice which helped me to understand the collaboration of amazing work that goes into providing excellent care for patients and families.

Within my two weeks I was able to assist with a variety of jobs including helping with the post-event tasks of the successful fundraiser ‘Talk the Walk’. As well as this I helped organise elements for a future fundraiser the ‘Summer Fete and Dog Show’.

My role also included managing content to post on social media platforms. As well as this, I met with the retail team and learned about how the charity shops operate and raise money.

I also had the opportunity to meet with people who have chosen to fundraise for the Hospice, some of these were because of their own experiences with the charity. Hearing about those that have a personal connection with Princess Alice, was extremely hard-hitting and real for me. Their motivation behind fundraising served as a reminder as to why raising funds for the Hospice is so important in continuing to provide these ongoing services to support others.

We wish Ella all the very best with her studies when she returns to Bournemouth University after the Easter break.
