Many people play the Princess Alice Hospice weekly lottery as a way to say thank you for the care that’s been provided to a loved one. But for Nichola, winning the £2,000 prize came about for a different reason.

Eight years ago, the company Nicola was working for introduced the work of Princess Alice Hospice to staff at a fundraising event. Nichola and her colleagues signed up to their lottery as a great way to give something back to their local community. Since moving jobs, Nichola has continued to play and was delighted to scoop the top weekly prize of £2,000.

Nichola said: “Supporting Princess Alice Hospice has always been something I’ve been happy to do. I know about the wonderful care patients are given and the beautiful environment it’s given in. We never know what will happen in the future, but I’d be comfortable knowing I was in their care. I didn’t go into it with a mindset of winning, it’s just my way of contributing, so I was blown away when I actually did win!”

Nichola says she couldn’t believe it when a member of the Hospice team called, and is planning on putting the money towards a new phone and a holiday she’s taking with her family soon.
