David in a plane ready for his skydive

David recently did some fundraising for the Hospice by taking to the skies for his 70th Birthday!

In his own words he describes the day;

‘The Skydive went well. Despite the forecast beginning bad on the actual day the weather was perfect as it was a warm and clear day. I was very impressed with the GO Skydive organisation and from the moment of checking in to landing everything happened quickly and smoothly. I can imagine this might not be the case if the weather doesn’t play ball but for me it did. The experience itself was very good. I was a bit nervous at the start but once I was at the door of the plane everything just happened. The wind at 15000ft rushed past as we descended but once the chute opened it was a very gentle glide to earth.

I’m glad I did it and I’m glad I raised some money for the Hospice. The fundraising was mostly done by my wife Yvonne who convinced some unlikely people to contribute. I wasn’t as successful as people I thought might contribute choose not but others I wouldn’t have expected did.

It was a great experience and I won’t forget my 70th birthday anytime soon!’
