car charging pointAn important focus of our new strategy is making sure we introduce sustainable solutions that help take care of our environment. Just in time to mark World Environment Day on Saturday 4 June, two new 7kW Electric Vehicle charging points were installed in the Hospice’s front car park.

The points can be used by staff, visitors and volunteers and sign-up to the scheme is very easy and free of charge, with our Facilities team on hand to help if necessary. In the first three weeks of being installed, the charging points were used 39 times, used 245 kWh to charge cars and 137kg CO2 was saved, which is approximately the equivalent of a return flight from Gatwick to Glasgow!

Head of Operational Services, Martin Osborn, said: “The points have been in use almost constantly since they were installed so they were well worth the investment. We’re keen to provide ways in which we can be more environmentally friendly at Princess Alice and this has been a positive step”.
