Our Family and Carers coffee morning is an informal chance to meet and talk to others in a similar situation.

The coffee morning takes place every Thursday, not just during Carers Week, from 10.30-11.30 in the coffee shop at the Hospice in Esher.

It’s open to any family member or carer of a Hospice patient, whether they’re attending our Wellbeing Centre, or are being cared for on our In-Patient Unit or at home by our Hospice at Home team, they don’t need to be referred. You also don’t need to attend every week, it’s a drop in service.

For many attendees it’s a chance to chat over any concerns and share ideas. Our Family and Carers Lead, Liz attends every week and can offer lots of resources and signposts to other Princess Alice Hospice services and also non Hospice services in our area for carers.

Families and Carers Lead at the Hospice, Liz says:
“The coffee morning is my favourite time of the week. It’s an informal chance to catch up with family members/carers over a hot drink and a piece of cake. I never know who is going to come but always enjoy meeting someone new or being greeted by a familiar face. Sometimes the session has a very practical focus- looking at information or trying to help someone resolve a particular query. Other times we have a bit of a laugh or even a cry. The best thing for me is when people can connect with others who have shared similar experiences or feelings, which they say has helped them feel much less isolated”
