Afternoon tea at the Hospice
On a sunny day in June our Legacy Team hosted a wonderful afternoon tea at the Hospice for our valued supporters, who have kindly pledged to leave us a gift in their Will. It was a chance to say a heartfelt thank you and to give guests an insight into our current work and future plans.
We transformed the gardens with a beautifully decorated marquee, where guests were welcomed before enjoying a tour of the garden. This was followed by a series of informative and inspiring speeches from Nigel (our CEO), Heather Patel (Trustee and former local GP) and nurses Julie and Julia. The event culminated with guests enjoying a delicious afternoon tea prepared by our in-house chef Chris, while being serenaded by our volunteer Shantha on her cello.

We were supported by several members of the Fundraising team, who hosted tables and enjoyed chatting with our guests, along with our fantastic volunteers, who braved the very hot weather to serve tea using a charming assortment of teapots kindly lent by our Retail colleagues – it was truly a team effort.
We felt privileged to build meaningful connections and to hear powerful stories from our guests – not only about the care they had witnessed and their connections to the Hospice, but also about their rich and varied lives.
Gifts in Wills help fund over a third of our vital care. Knowing when supporters have chosen to remember us in this way helps us to plan for the future and, importantly, gives us an opportunity to say thank you.
