How would you describe your role in one sentence? 

I am responsible for the overall daily operations of the Hounslow shop, ensuring efficiency and profitability.

Enter the float in the till and clock on.

How many people would you come into contact with? 

Approximately six hundred over the course of each week.

What’s your favourite task? 

Informing our customers of the Government Gift Aid Scheme. They’re often very surprised!

Which task do you dislike the most? 

I enjoy all aspects of my role.

What’s the most interesting thing about your job? 

Signing up new Gift Aid donors, which helps to increase the revenue within the business. A lot of people don’t realise that Gift Aid costs them nothing.

What do you think other people would be surprised to know about your role? 

The large amount of donations we process on a regular basis and how invaluable the extra 25% we receive from a Gift Aid item sold is for Princess Alice Hospice. 

Is this the first time you’ve been in a role of this kind? 

No! I have a wealth of experience within the service industry.

What skills do you need to do your job? 

A store manager needs to have excellent communication and organisation skills, with the ability to lead a successful team of staff and volunteers. With good people management, listening and problem-solving skills.

Who have you learned the most from at PAH? 

I have developed my knowledge from senior management, colleagues and volunteers.

Is there anything boring about your role? 

No! There is never a dull moment!

Clock off on the till.
