24 hours in … our In-Patient Unit with Kanue
What’s your favourite task?
Interacting with different people. Seeing different patients and families, helping them, speaking with them, ensuring they’re OK, I really enjoy it.
What’s the most interesting thing about your job?
Seeing different patients and families, helping them, speaking with them, ensuring they’re OK, I really enjoy it.
What do you think other people would be surprised to know about your role?
I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to develop my career here, there’s a lot of training and I’d like to train to become a nurse.
What skills do you need to do your job?
Before coming to the Hospice I had roles in housekeeping and ancillary care in people’s homes, but I realised it was the caring aspect I enjoyed so I feel that’s important.
Who have you learned the most from at the Hospice?
Everyone is so lovely, my mentor, my line manager, everyone is willing to teach me, they never tire of my questions – everyone is a good teacher.
