Sonia smiling at the cameraWhat’s the first thing you do on a standard day?

The first thing I do when I get in to the office, is make myself a nice cup of tea and check my inbox. I reply to emails, go through my calendar to familiarise myself with the meetings I have ahead, I then block out time in my calendar for tasks and create a to-do list.

How many people would you come into contact with?

I come into contact with members of the Marketing Team, as we all sit in an open plan office with each other. We share the space with the Individual Giving Team, Customer Experience Team and Community Events. So I come across a lot of friendly faces when I am working in the office. If it is a work from home day, it’s pretty much me, myself and I! The fridge helps keep me company though, as I always visit it for a little snack or two!

What’s your favourite task?

Oh, that’s a hard one! I’d say anything that involves working creatively, so say editing video pieces, whether it’s a quick social media post, or working with an external filming agency on the Hospice’s new corporate film.

Which task do you dislike the most?

I don’t dislike any tasks, but I’d say maybe just admin bits.

What’s the most interesting thing about your job?

I love that we get to connect with all the different teams in the organisation. We have the pleasure of hearing heart-warming stories from the Clinical team about patients, we then get to work with the Volunteering Team, Education, Retail, Bereavement and so forth.

I think that’s an interesting element about my job. We get to help with what’s going on across the whole organisation.

What do you think other people would be surprised to know about your role?

Sometimes we make fun Tik Toks! Go follow us and support the Hospice – @PAHospice. Also if you ever have any fun Tik Tok ideas drop us an email.

Is this the first time you’ve been in a role of this kind?

I’ve worked in Marketing for a while, I have been with the Hospice for nearly 11 years. However, it is the first time I have worked as a Marketing Lead.

What skills do you need to do your job?

I’d say a good knowledge of digital trends, how to use social media, and different editing software and platforms like Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, and Hootsuite.

Who have you learned the most from at Princess Alice Hospice?

I’d say my manager, Fran. She’s always been a great support. I’ve learnt so much from her over the years, in terms of skills, managing tasks, new processes and how to be a great manager – which is something I aspire to be!

Is there anything boring about your role?

Not really.

What’s the last thing you do before you leave at the end of the day?

I tend to make sure my inbox is all clear and drop any tasks in my calendar for the next day, just so I don’t forget about them…my memory is poor without calendars, to do lists and excel sheets!
