We know that racism leads to poorer access to Hospice care nationally. Poor access means worse health outcomes for minority communities - this must change. Everyone has a role in ending racism. At Princess Alice Hospice, we are dedicated to becoming an anti-racist organisation.

Anti-racist means standing up against racism.

We will take action to deliver greater racial equity wherever necessary, across all of our work and at every level of our organisation. By doing this, we will ensure that we are playing our part in creating an inclusive and fair society.

We have:
• Established an anti-racism group, chaired by our Chief Executive.
• Listened to colleagues who have shared experiences of racism in an organisational wide survey.
As a result, we developed an action plan to address racist incidents.
• Updated our policies and procedures to remove any potential bias and to highlight our commitment to anti-racism.
• Made it easier for colleagues to raise concerns, in person or anonymously.

We are:
• Rolling out mandatory anti-racism training for all our Trustees, employees and volunteers.
• Building strong relationships with our local community, to learn about the needs of people from minoritised groups, who we have not been reaching.

We will:
• Continue to promote anti-racism and inclusive ways of working
• Encourage people to speak up if they witness or experience any form of racism, knowing they will be supported.
• Track and report on progress we are making.
• Continue to promote a workplace culture where we celebrate allyship.

Our I-CARE values hold us accountable for our behaviours. Collectively, we strive for excellence in all that we do. As individuals, we should treat everybody with respect, integrity and compassion.

Everyone is welcome at Princess Alice Hospice.
