Lymphoedema Therapy


Where will my treatments take place?

The treatments will take place at the Hospice, either in the specialist therapy rooms within the Day Hospice complex or on the ward if you are an In-Patient.

How many treatments can I have?

Following your referral you will receive a series of four treatments, after completion of these appointments you can be referred again and reassessed to see if it would be appropriate for you to receive a further course of four treatments.

Do I have to pay for treatments?

All treatments are provided completely free of charge.

Can my carer receive treatments?

Your primary carer is eligible to receive treatments, their attendance will mirror your attendance, with an initial series of four sessions, these are provided free of charge.

Where will I be seen?

You can be seen at your home, as an out-patient at the Day Hospice or the In-Patient Ward.

Will I be able to receive use of equipment and mobility aids?

We will be able to provide equipment following assessment of your specific needs. Provision of equipment will be based on availability and all items will be made available on loan.

How long will each treatment session take?

Each session with our specialist Lymphoedema therapists takes approximately 1 hour.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions will vary from patient to patient; we will continuously assess your condition and will provide treatment for as long as it is necessary and appropriate.

How will I get to my therapy appointment?

It would be helpful if you could arrange your own transport to and from the Hospice, perhaps your family and friends would be able to help you. If this is not possible, we may be able to arrange volunteer transport.
