Catering Volunteers

We have a very high standard of catering for our patients, staff and volunteers, and there are from time to time opportunities for volunteers to help with catering, primarily in the kitchen

Coffee Shop

The Coffee Shop is open each weekday from 10.00hrs to 19.00hrs and at weekends from 10.00hrs to 19.00hrs. In addition to serving refreshments, the Coffee Shop provides a “refuge” for visitors needing to be away from a patient’s bedside for a while and the volunteer on duty is always ready to provide a sympathetic ear.

Ward Coffee and Tea Rounds

Morning coffee and afternoon tea is prepared in the Ward Kitchen and taken round by volunteers to patients and their visitors. This is another opportunity for a short social chat, which can be of benefit to the patients.

"When I retired eight years ago I wanted to devote some of my free time to do some voluntary work. A friend encouraged me to apply and for six years I have volunteered in the Coffee Shop. The gratitude of patients and their families for the love and kindness they receive at the Hospice is reward enough, and I feel it a humbling and great privilege to serve them and the Hospice in any way I can"
