New boy ropes workmates into abseil!

Ben Hartley, GP Liaison is the new boy at New Malden Diagnostic Centre and he has already convinced his colleagues to sign up for the Princess Alice Hospice’s second sponsored abseil at The Queens Grandstand, Epsom Racecourse on Saturday 24 March.

The beautiful Epsom Downs home to the legendary racecourse will welcome challengers who want to scale the 90ft Grandstand structure. The balconies and unusual shape of the building will ensure an exhilarating and fun abseil challenge.

Ben, 36 from Sutton has been at the New Malden centre for just over four weeks, he is on secondment from the parent hospital The Harley Street Clinic. Even colleagues from his old office have not escaped his recruitment drive with Chief Executive, Neil Buckley set to scale the 90ft grandstand and help the team towards their £1,000 target. ‘The centre at New Malden has been in operation since 2010, and since the start we have worked hard to be part of the wider community and to support causes that we know are important to our staff and patients. Princess Alice Hospice has a large catchment area that covers the communities where a significant number of our staff members live. The abseil is just the start of what we hope will be a series of fundraising activities for the charity’.

If you want to join Ben, his team of 8 from the centre, and 80 others sign up now for a great day of fun and fundraising. Entry is £20, with a minimum sponsorship requirement per participant of £100. The event will run from 9am until 5.00pm.

In March 2011, 41 supporters, staff and volunteers with a ‘head for heights’ pledged to raise £11,000 for Princess Alice Hospice  at the charity’s very first abseil, the team are hoping  the second will raise even more money as many groups are signing up.
