Concorde and cash for Princess Alice Hospice

On Friday 8 October, Princess Alice Hospice was very fortunate to benefit from an organisation's philanthropic endeavours as Karen Whitehorn; Major Donor Manager collected a cheque in the sum of £8,250 and got a glimpse of the iconic Concorde at Heathrow Airport.

In May of this year, BBA Aviation launched its Charitable Giving Programme, a new Group-wide initiative for 2010.  The programme complements the many existing charitable giving and community involvement programmes that are supported throughout BBA Aviation's operating companies.  The aim of the programme is to bring their mission and values to life by making a real and sustainable difference to the industries in which they operate and a positive and lasting influence on the communities in which staff live and work.

This key component of BBA Aviation's commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility has seen an international company support a local charity that cares for patients across Surrey, south west London and Middlesex and whose education centre advances end of life care knowledge nationally and internationally.

The BBA Aviation Charitable Giving Committee, which reviews applications too, has selected ASIG Europe Limited to receive a financial donation in the amount of £8.250 for Princess Alice Hospice - their locally supported charity.

The cheque was presented to Karen Whitehorn, Major Gifts Manager for the Hospice on the 8th October by Pat Pearse Managing Director ASIG Europe.  Pat was supported by Liz Copus who made the initial request for the funds to be made available as part of BBA's Charitable Giving Programme.  They were joined by colleagues Jerry Annette and Alan Walker.

Karen Whithorn said:

'We are very grateful to Pat and Liz for all their hard work in securing such a great sum of money for the Hospice.  The money could fund 95 visits from one of our community Princess Alice Hospice Nurses to a patient at home or in a care home.  Our nurses provide vital advice and care and support the whole family.  At any one time, the nurses care for over 800 patients in the community and the Hospice relies on the generous support of local individuals and local companies to help the fundraising team towards their yearly target of £5.47 million'.
