900 at our BEST PARTY EVER!Hospice celebrates 25 years of care with its ‘BEST PARTY EVER’! As 2011 comes to a close so to does the 25th anniversary celebrations of Princess Alice Hospice, a service of thanks at Guildford Cathedral kicked off the year, a celebrity golf day in June with Strictly’s Len Goodman, Anton Du Beke, DJ Spoony, sportsmen John Inverdale and Tim Stimpson and comedian Bobby Davro helped to raise over £18,500. Bobby recently returned to support the charity and entertain the guests at ‘Midnight in Monte Carlo’ the Hospice’s 25th anniversary party on Friday 25 November. The venue at Mercedes Benz World was generously donated by Tim Stevens, MD of Weybridge based events and catering company ‘Best Parties Ever’. Over 960 guests enjoyed an evening of dancing, with music from Ding Dong Daddios, Far from Kansas choir and the amazing comedy and musical styling of Mr Bobby Davro. The entertainment continued with silk rope acrobats, trapeze artists and magician Richard Pinner. With dodgems, casino, Grand Prix car games and a DJ the party was kept going into the early hours of Saturday morning. Bobby was joined by other celebrity supporters of the charity DJ David ‘The Kid’ Jensen, Strictly Come Dancing and It Takes Two’s Karen Hardy and Erin Boag, Diana Moran aka The Green Goddess, Fashion Stylist and TV Presenter John Scott, This Morning’s Beauty presenter and Hello Magazine Editor Nadine Baggott and fresh from her panto rehearsals in Guildford, Bonnie Langford. The silent auction with lots including a weekend in Sainte Tropez on a Sunseeker Predator 55, private dance lessons with Strictly Come Dancing Champion Karen Hardy at her luxury Chelsea studio, limited edition Chanel cosmetics and parfum gift hamper, and a villa for 12 in the south of France proved very popular generating over £17,000. Tickets to shows such as WICKED and Richmond Theatre’s Cinderella pantomime, luxury cosmetics, subscriptions to Surrey Life, family photo studio sessions from Snappy Snaps, Kingston, holidays in the Lake District, champagne, vintage wine and a host of other prizes ensured the raffle was a sell out, and along with the diamond and aquamarine pendant tombola and sale of Hospice lottery scratch cards the event secured a wonderful £34,000 profit for the charity. This is likely to increase with a further donation from ‘Best Parties Ever’ from money raised at the casino on their subsequent events throughout the season and money from Snappy Snaps, Kingston from the sale of event photographs. Jane Hargrave, Trustee and Event Chair said ‘The Hospice is extremely grateful to Tim Stevens for his generosity this year and for the donation of future support. The success of the event was made possible through the hard work of staff, trustees, volunteers, generous individuals and companies, such as main sponsor CHP Consulting, London who sponsored the silent auction screens and support team. Everyone at the Hospice is already looking forward to welcoming our dedicated supporters and more new supporters to next year’s event’. The £34,000 donation is a very significant sum and could fund 358 visits to a patient’s home from our community Princess Alice Nurses or alternatively fund 175 Day patient attendances for vital medical and clinical care.
