In the year ending March 2011:

During the year, Princess Alice Nurses made 15,964 visits to patients in their home or in care homes.

They cared for 1,580 new patients.

Each home visit on average costs £95.

45,151 support phone calls made to patients, their families and cares by our community nurses.

30% of our patients passed away on the ward.

On average, each patient stay costs £6,406. The average stay is 13.9 days.

Maintained average ward occupancy at 88% to ensure optimum performance of care.

During the year, there were 2,462 attendances by day patients.

Each attendance by a day-patient for free comprehensive clinical and therapeutic care costs on average £194.

During the year, 2699 sessions of physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions provided at the Hospice and within patients' homes.

66 speech and language therapy sessions were provided to patients.

During the year, the Social Work and Bereavement Team delivered 2,987 bereavement sessions.

Each session by the specially trained team to provide social work support costs an average of £218.
