    About this role

    The Hospice is currently expanding our Hospice at Home team.

    We are looking for experienced and versatile nurses and health care workers with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will work closely with the CNS’s to support specific developments within the team aimed at ensuring more people achieve their preferred place of care. You will support our core business but also support commissioned projects across our catchment area.

    You must have experience of working within a nursing team on an In-Patient Unit and/or in the Community and be able to demonstrate evidence of commitment to developing skills and knowledge in specialist palliative care. Experience of nursing terminally ill patients is also essential.

    The Hospice recognises the growing demand for staff nurses and resource in the community to support patients requiring End of Life Care, both on the In-Patient Ward and in the Community.

    It is also recognised that specific skills and knowledge are required in order to deliver the best care possible and meet the complex needs of these patients. This rotational post will develop an individual who is able to work autonomously with excellent assessment and decision making skills but who also has the specialist knowledge and skills needed to support complexity thus equipping the post holder to work in a more senior role in the future in either care setting and increasing their employability.

    A great opportunity has arisen to work at Princess Alice Hospice within the Fundraising and Communication directorate.

    You will take the lead in the planning, management and marketing of the community and event programme identifying target markets throughout our catchment area to sell in our community fundraising and events.

    You will have an impressive track record of fundraising experience as a manager and will have successfully grown income through community fundraising. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and also be an outgoing person who is flexible to work outside office hours and who can work with people from different backgrounds and volunteers.

    About this role

    The housekeeping department is seeking to recruit part-time enthusiastic and motivated housekeeping/Ward Services Assistants. You will be working as part of the ward based housekeeping/catering team ensuring an efficient service is provided, whilst maintaining high standards of food hygiene at all times; a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable. Ideally you will have experience of working in housekeeping/catering within a healthcare environment.

    About the role

    Are you an artist or do you have an interest in art?

    We currently have art volunteers encouraging patients in our Day Hospice to tap into their creative side and the results are amazing. We are keen to extend this service and use some of the new space in our re-designed reception area for patients and their carers to explore the therapeutic benefits of art.

    We would like to hear from any local artists or creative people who are happy to encourage small groups to use a variety of media.

    Even if you can only spare a few hours, it would great to hear from you.

    Our beautiful gardens and wonderful flower arrangements throughout the Hospice give enormous pleasure to our patients and visitors.   • Hospice Neighbour Volunteer (Richmond) Read more

    About the role

    Could you offer support to someone in their last year of life? Could you give their carer a much needed break? Do you have a few hours to spare each week and live in the borough of Richmond? Living with the knowledge that your life is near its end or caring for someone who is possibly in their last year of life can be a difficult and challenging time. Princess Alice Hospice, in association with the Richmond Clinical Commissioning Group and the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, is launching a new service called ‘Hospice Neighbours’. The service is part of a wider initiative to support local people in their last year of life by enabling the person to make choices about their care, and access appropriate services to support them and their families. We are looking for local people who can volunteer a minimum of four hours a week to become a Hospice Neighbour to offer emotional and practical support to someone in their last year of life and to help give their carers a much needed break. This could include:

    • Keeping someone company – reminiscing about the past
    • Talking about worries the person may have
    • Helping around the house – making a sandwich, hanging the washing out, collecting a prescription, preparing a shopping list …
    • Taking the person out for a drive, escorting to appointments, helping with shopping.

    Volunteers will be supported with a programme of training and ongoing group supervision from the Princess Alice Hospice team.

  • Shop Volunteer Read more

    About the role

    All our shops welcome new volunteers but we are actively looking for volunteers in the following locations:

      • Esher
      • Egham
      • Staines
      • Chessington
      • East Sheen
      • Whitton (afternoons)
      • Teddington
      • Feltham

    Shop volunteers support the day-to-day running of our shops.

    Typical tasks include sorting, pricing and preparing goods for sale, serving customers and keeping the shop looking interesting and attractive.

    All our volunteers receive a group induction, on-the-job training and ongoing support, as well as further training and development opportunities.

    About the role

    Do you have time to give to support your local Hospice? We have an exciting new volunteering opportunity that could see you make a real difference.

    We are looking for motivated individuals to lead new supporter groups who will promote the work of the Hospice within their local community and help to raise vital funds.

    You will act as our voice in your town, helping to raise awareness of the work we do in the area to support people with advanced illness and those approaching the end of their lives.

    You will be comfortable giving talks to local community groups and schools, enjoy running stalls at fetes and be committed to booking new talks and community events for us to attend.

    This is a new volunteering role that will help us to develop further links with our community and raise vital funds to enable us to continue to provide end of life care to patients across Surrey, South West London and Middlesex.

    Our Look Good Feel Great days usually run four times a year and are a day of pampering and relaxation for our Day Hospice patients.

  • Volunteer drivers Read more

    About the role

    If you have a few hours to spare during the week, love being behind the wheel and want to make a difference, then we need your help!

    Join our team of Volunteer Drivers bringing patients who live across Surrey, south west London and Middlesex to Princess Alice Hospice for appointments or Day Hospice activities.

    As a Volunteer Driver:

    • 70% of our patients rely on volunteer transport to get to the Hospice, so whatever time you have to spare, morning or afternoon, you will receive a huge ‘thank you’ from us and our patients
    • you will receive a mileage allowance (currently 45p per mile)
    • if you don’t want to use your own vehicle, we also need Volunteer Drivers for our specially adapted vehicles.

    We are particularly interested to hear from potential volunteers living in Ashford/Staines, Banstead/Epsom/Tadworth and Twickenham/Whitton.
