    As a Retail Area Manager, you will have full accountability for Profit and Loss across your area of Fashion, Furniture and Homeware stores, in addition to the performance management and development of your Store Managers and teams of voluntary staff all within the Charity sector.

    Joining a team of professional retailers, you will have a real drive and passion for delivering results in a growing business that will allow you to develop and grow with it.

    Princess Alice Hospice cares for terminally ill adults across a large part of Surrey, south west London and Middlesex, in their own homes and at the hospice in Esher. Last year we cared for nearly 3,000 in the community and our 32 Princess Alice Nurses made more than 10,000 home visits. More than 1 million people live within our care area and over £9 million is needed each year to provide these vital and much needed services.     Our Princess Alice Hospice at Home service brings the skills and expertise of our team of highly – trained professionals (specialist palliative doctors, nurses, social workers, welfare advisors, chaplain and therapists) straight into our patients’ homes, giving them, their families and carers access to the vital support they need. Following a successful trial, we are now able to provide our Princess Alice Night Response Service for 7 days a week in partnership with Kingston and CSH – Surrey Clinical Commissioning Groups.

    About the role

    We are looking for HCAs and SHCAs experienced in palliative care and/or the community setting. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly on the Night Response Rota travelling with a Registered Nurse to patients in their own homes. They also support staff in nursing and residential homes with patients already known to the hospice. The night response nurses are based at the hospice and support the nurses on the In-patient Unit when not visiting patients in the community.

    The post holder may also be requested to join our excellent team of 8 to 8 nurses who remain with patients and families overnight. This post will enable you to develop your skills in caring for patients towards the end of life and supporting them to die in the place of their choice. You will be supported by our clinical lead for the 8 to 8 Night Nursing Service and relevant hospice staff including our out of hours telephone advice service.

    Experience in caring for patients who are terminally ill is essential. Due to the wide ranging catchment areas covered by the hospice, applicants will need to have their own car with a full driving licence.

  • Catering Assistant Read more

    Hours: One shift a week (8am - 2pm) Location: Esher, Surrey

    About the role

    We’re looking for volunteers to help out in our kitchen and coffee shop. The role will involve producing sandwiches and cakes as well as serving customers at the till and preparing tea and coffee for meeting rooms.

    You must have or be working towards a catering qualification and have a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.

    The role would suit someone starting out or interested in a career in catering, or someone who just wants to help out their local hospice in a sociable role.

  • Bereavement Service CORE and AAG Administrator Read more

    Hours: Up to 15 hours per week Location: Esher, Surrey

    About the role

    We’re looking for a bereavement volunteer to help us in an administrative role.

    It is vital that the Bereavement Service is able to effectively evaluate the quality of the services we provide. To do this we use CORE (an evaluation system used in psychological therapy services) and the AAG (this may supersede CORE but is not yet validated). This role involves inputting evaluation forms, completed by clients and volunteers, onto the CORE system then analysing and presenting the results.

    This role would suit someone with a particular interest in Bereavement Support work or someone studying psychology or similar courses.

    About the role

    This is a great opportunity for young people interested in a career in healthcare to gain experience of working on the ward with our patients.

    You will be involved with many aspects of patient care so do look at the role description attached to find out more.

    You must be over 17 when you join us, can commit to one shift a week from 4.30-8.30pm and be able to volunteer for a period of 6 months.

    Location: Esher

    About the role

    We’re looking for Ward Hospitality Volunteers to provide a hospitality service to patients and their visitors during mealtimes.

    This will involve assisting with patient menus, serving meals and refreshments and feeding patients who require additional support.

    Ideally you can commit to one 3-hour shift  per week and be available for the supper service weekdays from 4pm.-7pm.  We are also recruiting weekend volunteers to cover both lunchtimes from 11am-2pm or the evening service from 4pm-7pm.

  • Hospice Neighbours Read more

    Location: Esher, Surrey

    About the role

    • Could you offer support to someone nearing the end of their life?
    • Could you give their carer a much needed break?
    • Do you have a few hours to spare each week?

    If you have answered yes to all these questions then you may be the person we are looking for to join us as a Hospice Neighbour.

    We are looking for volunteers throughout our catchment area which extends from Staines to Hounslow, Richmond, Kingston, Walton and Dorking.  Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum of four hours a week offering emotional and practical support to our patients and their carers.

    These are some of the ways our volunteers support our patients.

    • Befriending – perhaps reminiscing with them about the past, talking about their worries and of course having a joke or two!
    • Helping around the house – making a sandwich, hanging the washing out, collecting a prescription or preparing a shopping list
    • Taking the person out for a drive or to appointments and helping with shopping.

    Volunteers will be supported with a programme of training and ongoing group supervision from the Princess Alice Hospice Team.

    About the role

    All our shops welcome new volunteers but we are actively looking for volunteers in the following locations:

      • Esher
      • Egham
      • Staines
      • Chessington
      • East Sheen
      • Whitton (afternoons)
      • Teddington
      • Feltham
      • Chertsey

    Shop volunteers support the day-to-day running of our shops.

    Typical tasks include sorting, pricing and preparing goods for sale, serving customers and keeping the shop looking interesting and attractive.

    All our volunteers receive a group induction, on-the-job training and ongoing support, as well as further training and development opportunities.

    About the role

    Do you have time to give to support your local Hospice? We have an exciting new volunteering opportunity that could see you make a real difference.

    We are looking for motivated individuals to lead new supporter groups who will promote the work of the Hospice within their local community and help to raise vital funds.

    You will act as our voice in your town, helping to raise awareness of the work we do in the area to support people with advanced illness and those approaching the end of their lives.

    You will be comfortable giving talks to local community groups and schools, enjoy running stalls at fetes and be committed to booking new talks and community events for us to attend.

    This is a new volunteering role that will help us to develop further links with our community and raise vital funds to enable us to continue to provide end of life care to patients across Surrey, South West London and Middlesex.

    We are looking for hairdressers, nail technicians and makeup artists to volunteer in the Day Hospice, on the Ward and at our Look Good Feel Great days.

    Our Look Good Feel Great days usually run four times a year and are a day of pampering and relaxation for our Day Hospice patients.

    All equipment and tools needed for this role will be provided by the Hospice.

  • Volunteer drivers Read more

    About the role

    If you have a few hours to spare during the week, love being behind the wheel and want to make a difference, then we need your help!

    Join our team of Volunteer Drivers bringing patients who live across Surrey, south west London and Middlesex to Princess Alice Hospice for appointments or Day Hospice activities.

    As a Volunteer Driver:

    • 70% of our patients rely on volunteer transport to get to the Hospice, so whatever time you have to spare, morning or afternoon, you will receive a huge ‘thank you’ from us and our patients
    • you will receive a mileage allowance (currently 45p per mile)
    • if you don’t want to use your own vehicle, we also need Volunteer Drivers for our specially adapted vehicles.

    We are particularly interested to hear from potential volunteers living in Ashford/Staines, Banstead/Epsom/Tadworth and Twickenham/Whitton.
