Learning Resource Centre

Princess Alice Hospice supports today's Evidence-Based Approach to clinical practice.  We highly value the role of research as a source of information contributing to the body of knowledge related to our practice. To this end the Hospice has a Learning Resource Centre (LRC) staffed by a qualified Librarian.

The centre provides:

  • A specialist book and journal collection on palliative care and associated subjects

  • Quiet study space
  • Two networked PCs with printing facilities

Services:

  • Interlibrary loans for books or journal articles (There may be a charge)
  • Literature Searches
  • ATHENS - An authentication service enabling you to access some NHS Evidence resources, such as databases and e-journals. Contact the Librarian to request registration

Training:

  • Basic, advanced and refresher courses on how to perform literature searches on the HDAS databases that include Cinahl and Medline
  • Education and training on other sources of electronic healthcare information 
  • Advice on resources for evidence-based practice, including the Cochrane Library and TRIP

LRC open from 7.30 - 20.00, seven days a week

Staffed Monday to Thursday from 8.00 to 16.00
